At Aspen View Mental Health, we understand how deeply a traumatic event can affect every aspect of life. Whether trauma comes from abuse, natural disasters, military service, accidents, or other painful experiences, the impact can be long-lasting. Flashbacks, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders are just some of the challenges that survivors may face.
Our trauma-focused treatment center in Greeley, Colorado provides evidence-based, compassionate care for individuals struggling with the aftereffects of trauma. With the support of licensed mental health providers, you or your loved one can begin to process painful experiences, develop effective coping strategies, and restore emotional well-being.
Unresolved trauma can shape a person’s emotional, psychological, and physical health for years. Survivors may experience:
While these reactions are common, they do not define you. With the right trauma treatment program, recovery is possible. At Aspen View, we use evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to address both the emotional and biological effects of trauma.
CBT is one of the most effective approaches to treating trauma-related conditions like depression, and anxiety. By identifying unhelpful thoughts and replacing them with healthier perspectives, patients learn coping skills to manage triggers, reduce distress, and rebuild self-confidence.
Trauma often disrupts emotional balance, leading to impulsivity or self-harm. DBT teaches emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and communication skills. These tools empower individuals to face overwhelming feelings and build healthier relationships.
EMDR is a specialized, trauma-focused therapy that helps reprocess painful memories. Using bilateral stimulation such as guided eye movements, EMDR decreases the emotional charge of traumatic experiences, giving patients freedom from being “stuck” in the past.
Trauma survivors often try to avoid painful emotions. ACT teaches acceptance, mindfulness, and values-based living so patients can face difficult experiences without being controlled by them.
For people with phobias, or anxiety disorders, exposure therapy helps gradually reduce distress toward specific triggers. By confronting fears in a safe environment, patients gain mastery and relief.
This therapy explores how unconscious processes and past experiences influence current patterns. It’s particularly useful for those with long-standing trauma or relational struggles.
For patients unsure about committing to therapy or facing substance use disorders, MI strengthens motivation for change and supports self-confidence.
